The Wells House, located next to the Oakhurst School on Monmouth Road, was shown on maps as early as 1873. The owner, E.L. Wells, was the "overseer of roads" in the township for many years. The Wells family were active in early government and education. The house was marked as a historic home in 2002. The home was torn down and replaced with an office building in 2005.
